A new found rivalry with this expansion team(well, they always will be to me) the Jacksonville Jaguars have always put up a good fight. Very Excited for this game.
Within the first 5 drives between both teams we've seen a touchdown pass, two fumbles, and a field goal. I love this stuff! Now if only one of those fumbles hadn't been ours. Our offense and defense started out with a bang. Cutler and the O driving for 80 yards. Only to be dulled in comparison to Webster's DEVESTATING blow to Taylor making him cough up the ball. BUT, yes, with the orange and blue there is ALWAYS a but, Cutler as we have all noticed this season, has grown his required set of extremities necessary for all NFL quarteback. Balls. But with these balls come responsibility Jay. Yes, you did make one succesful sprint. But trying to do this all the time will come back to bite you in those previously mentioned balls. Like today. You just fumbled man!!! Now we're only ahead by 4! AHH!!!! You just through and interception too!! Sounds like someone's trying to step on their OWN balls. Ouch! Alright, end of the 1st quarter. I'm gonna grab a beer.
Okaym so because our defense has stepped up theres game the last 2 weeks, and are continuing this glorious trend this week, Jay's int. didn't cost us. Except, like i mentioned before, a little shrivel in Cutlers ego(aka balls). As the broncos run onto the feild, I can only feel goo juju for Denver, with high asperations for the rest of the game. . . And that's what I get for being positive. At least a 40 yard drive, and what looks to become another amazing cut-back by the famed Brandon Marshall turns into ANOTHER fumble. Not only to be recovered by the Jags, but run back for 10 or so more yards. Quick thoughts before the end of the second. We need to focus on holding onto the ball. As well as basic tackling techniques. It's never good when every tackle requires 2-4 defensemen to take down one guy. And so far, because of our nasty little group habits the broncos have shown, there's only one d-back motivating us. Webster is hitting, tackling, pressuring, and just outplaying every d-man we have out there right now. Where are those multi-million dollar Cornerbacks we have? How about a sack or two today, eh boys? Ok, games back on... Well, so far our d is melting down. Now consistently giving up first down after first down. There on the path to giving up our lead. Jay needs to take every aside for a sec and pump 'em up. Someone does. Get these guys fired up. Remind them that these are the guys who have on many occasions knocked us out of the playoffs. And just like that, they do it to us again. With a BIG gain for the jags, and a quick run from Jones-Drew the jags take the lead, 10-7. Here we go offense here we go!! Come on Denver. 3rd and 1 and we are working on clock managment. Let's focus on getting down field. Maybe I'm impatient. Maybe that's why I don't coach in the NFL. Let's see if it works... Nope, didn't work, now it's fourth and 1, gonna hand it to Pittman, and.... AHH!!! Doesn't look like it. We'll see what the chain gang says. NO! Didn't make it. And now, because we wanted to preserve the clock the jags have a little over a minute to play with. I call a big play right away. And now we can tell our Defense is dis-heartened because Garrard is getting SO MUCH TIME!! And I was wrong, no big play. Garrard is being incredibly patient. Wow. Playing like a vet. Looking so acurate and such a variety. Now using uat least 8 different recievers. OH MY GOD!!! Fumble!! Oh yea. Maybe I should start talking positively about ALL the Jaguars, cause as soon as I ssend a copmpliment his way, Garrard fum, bles the ball. Denver Ball!! YES! And now, with 3rd and ten looming, with only 20 seconds left, we can assume we will be retiring to Halftime. Being thankful that were aren't going into halftime not down 17-7, I'm gonna grab a smoke and try to calm these nerves. Meet you at the start of the half.
Alright ladies and gents, here we go with the start of the second half with a DEEP boot to the end zone. We see Garrard trotting onto the feild with some well deserved confidence. And now only 2 plays deep, they call a timeout after already acheiving their first 1st down. So hopefully this TO means that Garrard is noticing the Denver D picking up there play calling. Lets get another one of those generous ammounts of turnovers we've already seen today. And with a nice f-you from the Jags to myself, with one play after their TO the Jags bring the lead to 17-7. MAN. Not only Garrard, but the entire Jaguars offense, as well as the coaching staff seem to be finding every hole in our defense. Shanny, Bob Slowik, what's going on guys!?? And now with Cutler, Pittman, AND Marshall slowing on the Offense, of all people MARTINEZ is stepping up to the plate. Showing incredible determination not only as a ST's player, but now as a receiver. And with that said, Jay shows me that his balls haven't shrunk as much as I thought, making a 10 yard dash. WITHOUT losing the ball. With a good pass to marshal, it's 2nd and 1. And now, with the ever looming 3rd down, Jays big run inspires Pittman to rock the jags with a good 12-15 yd run. Now Jay throws a deep pass... OH! Wow, one of the closest plays so far this year. RIGHT through the hands of Jackson in the endzone. MAN! I think Jay got excited about that one throwing it just barely too far. With the jags stepping up the D, looks like we'll settle for a field goal. 17-10 Jags. We'll take it. Nothing aggravates me more than when the Broncs tease us with SUCH and amazing start to the game, making the win look inevitable, only to prove that now battle will be easy this year. We can't seem to make good, dare I say game changin gplays in OUR favor, without LETTING the other team have a chance by making game changin mistakes. And as a fan, depressinon starts to kick in. Haveing not had the heart to blog for an entire Jacksonville drive, as the jags score, yet another touchdown through the holes of our defense. And again, because one of our defenders can't seem to tackle one of there offensive men. Well, all we can hope for now is for our Offense to prove that they are #2 in the NFL! Here we go. Ok, receiving yet another bad call, facing 1st and long, Jay seems to be more motivated, driving 2 longs plays for a 1st. It seems to me that the refs wanna play now too. Having remained fairly quiet the first half, they are using their whistles a lot more now. However this oner does go in our favor. And we haven't seen Jay complete a long pass yet today. Having attempted many, with one resulting in an INT, he's been pretty innacurate today. But alas, regardless of good plays, and calls going in our favor, we still can't capitalize. Jags ball at the start of the 4th. Our defense finally stepping up to the Jags offense, we get the ball back for the first time in the 4th. Now being a 3 possesion game for the broncos, this drive is basically make or break. Someone, I don't care who, but someone on the Denver offense needs to take control, and seize the attention of the fans with a miraculous play. That I believe is the only thing that can get us back in the game. We need that 12th man. Now I'm the type of fan that never says die, BUT... that last drive didn't put much faith back in me. Broncos give up the ball, and again... punt to the Jags. I just hope that our D has it in them to make another crucial stop. Preferably allowing as little yards as possible. And I'm gonna call this one. Glen Martinez, player of the game. I think Shannahan is gonna be happy he brought him back. And this is why I love being a bronco fan. With denvers defense stepping up again, making there second stand in a row, broncos got the ball just to show it down there throats, scoring a very much needed touchdown, bring the game within 7 making it 17-24. This give the broncos not only the aggresive and motivational edge, but a much needed confidence boost. With lots of big hits, and a lot of downed players because of it, it's time to pick our selves up, and make one more stand. AND TEH DENVER DEFENSE DOES IT AGAIN!!! With TWO big plays, causing TWO incompletions the broncos get the ball back With plenty of time left. I apologize for the gaps in events in my blogging. But being a true bronco fan, there are some situations that are just to tense to type through. But, unforunately, with the 2-minute warning upon us, with the Jags on the 20, things aren't looking good. And like I said, the game is over. Nothing worse then getting beat by the kneel down. Being able to kneel away the entire last 2 minutes should be banned. UGH!! A frustrating day for bronco fans. I apologize for the bad news folks, but the final score, Jacksonville Jaguars 24 Denver Broncos, 17. And as the Broncos fall to 4 and 2 I bid you a fond farewell. Looking forward to next week, where Denver tries to redeem themselves in New England, against the Pats!! Go Broncos!!!
