The Midwest was another regional that experienced a couple of interlopers into the Sweet 16 that were likely not on too many brackets. Honestly, who had Davidson and Villanova in the Sweet 16?
So, how did this happen and what does it mean for future games?
Villanova upset Clemson and then beat Siena by 12. Siena shot a blistering 37% from the field and an equally bad 66% from the line. Villanova should not expect that gift from anyone the rest of the way. This is particularly true with Kansas who may have the most balanced team in the entire tournament.
Davidson is a slightly different story however. They beat Gonzaga in the first round but a 10 seed beating a 7 seed is hardly earth-shattering news. Today, they went into halftime against Georgetown down by 11. The Hoyas responded with a total collapse in the second half and Davidson's Stephen Curry scored 25 of his 30 points in the second half.
Wisconsin, who many felt should have been a two seed to start with, will not allow a one-man come back in the person of Curry.
My fearless prediction in the Midwest ................... Kansas.
