Mount St. Mary's defeated Choppin State 69-60 in the first real game of the NCAA Tournament. Well sort of the first game. The winner of this hard fought contest earns the honor of getting their clocks cleaned by North Carolina in the first round. But hey, dancing is dancing, so hats off to MSM.
Neither team belongs in a real NCAA tournament. Between them they tallied 35 losses in weak conferences. Neither team would likely get out of the second round in the NIT but it is what it is. MSM hit only 32% of their shots from the field and Choppin State assisted greatly hitting only 46% from the line.
So anyway, it's on. The NCAA Tournament is the most exciting time of the year for many basketball fans and this year promises to be a great one.
